Abstract
The infections of oral and maxillofacial area are increasing due to improper use of antibiotics and the appearance of resistant bacteria. These infections bring about discomfort and sometimes threat of patient life. In this clinical survey, we studied by the medical records of culture-confirmed abscess patients who attended Konyang University hospital from May 2000 to October 2005 retrospectively. We studied 121 cases of infected patients and 90 cases had causative microorganisms. About 40% of infection patients had single microorganisms and the others had two or more microorganisms. This clinical survey showed that streptococci sp. pathogens was one of the most causative organism in oral and maxillofacial abscess.
